Introduction to the 316 stainless steel pipe

- Nov 10, 2017 -

316 stainless steel in general is the generic terms of the stainless steel and the acid-resistant steel. Stainless steel is refer to resistant weak medium such as air, steam and water corrosion, and acid-resistant steel is refer to resistant chemical etching media such as acid, alkali, salt corrosion. The invention of the stainless steel is the world's major achievement in the history of metallurgy, the development of stainless steel pipes laid the important material technology base for the development of modern industry and the development of science and technology progress. Stainless steel usually used for anti corrosive environment, and medical equipment and articles of daily use.

Corrosion Resistance
Corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel pipe, in the process of pulp and paper production has good corrosion resistance performance. And 316 stainless steel also resistant the ocean and corrosive industrial atmosphere corrosion.

Heat Resistance
Under 871 °C (1600 °F) of use and at above 927 °C (1700 °F) continuous use, 316 stainless steel has good resistance oxidation performance. Between 427 °C to 857 °C (800 °F to 1575 °F), it is better not to use 316 stainless steel continuously, but beyond the limits of the temperature of continuous use of 316 stainless steel pipe, the stainless steel has good heat resistance. The performance of the resistance of 316L stainless steel pipe to the carbide precipitation is better than 316 stainless steel, the above temperature range is available.

Heat Treatment
In 1850-2050 °F annealing temperature range, then the rapid annealing, and then quickly cooling. 316 stainless steel can't through the heat treatment hardening.

Welding
316 stainless steel pipe has good welding performance. Can use all the standard welding method to weld. When welding, you can according to the purpose, respectively use 316Cb、316L or 309Cb stainless steel filler rod or electrode to weld. In order to obtain the best corrosion resistance, 316 stainless steel welding cross section annealing treatment after welding is required. If you use 316l stainless steel, do not need to annealing treatment after welding.
